Keeping the Economic Recovery "Going"

I was reading today about how Obama's goal for the new year is to "keep the economic recovery going."  I'd hate to see what the economy would look like if it wasn't "recovering."  I know companies are bouncing back, but that's not really having a positive effect for those of us who don't own Fortune 500 companies.
